Level 1 Food Safety for Catering (QCF) - £45.00 pp + VAT

This qualification is ideal for anyone working in the catering and hospitality industry or those about to start work in the industry. The topics covered in this qualification are essential to the production of safe food. The qualification is recognised internationally and has been developed to protect customers, brand reputation and profits.

Course Duration

1/2-day training course. (09:00 to 13:00 hours)

Course Content

Subjects covered include awareness of hazards and controls associated with food in catering operations, contamination prevention, temperature abuse of food and the importance of thorough cooking and rapid cooling, personal hygiene and cleaning and disinfection.

Course Assessment

It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination over 30 minutes to complete, where the candidate must answer at least 10 out of 15 questions correctly.

Course Qualification

You will be awarded a level 1 qualification in Food Safety for Catering. It is recommened you resit a half- day course every 3 years keep your qualification current.

Level 2 Food Safety for Catering: £75.00 pp + VAT

This qualification is ideal for anyone working in the catering and hospitality industry or those about to start work in the industry. The topics covered in this qualification are essential to the production of safe food. The qualification is recognised internationally and has been developed to protect customers, brand reputation and profits.

Course Duration

1-day training course (09:00 to 16:00 hours).

Course Content

Subjects covered include awareness of hazards and controls, food safety management and temperature controls, food poisoning control, personal hygiene, cleaning and disinfection, food pests and the role of the food handler in keeping food safe.

Course Assessment

It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination over one hour to complete, where the candidate must answer at least 20 out of 30 questions correctly.

Course Qualification

You will be awarded a level 2 qualification in Food Safety for Catering. It is recommended you re-sit a one-day course every 3 years keep your qualification current.

Level 3 Food Safety for Catering: £165.00 pp + VAT

This qualification is ideal for anyone working as a supervisor, team leader or line manager in the catering and hospitality industry. The topics covered in this qualification are essential to the production of safe food. The qualification is recognised internationally and has been developed to protect customers, brand reputation and profits.

Course Duration

3-day training course (09:00 to 16:00 hours).

Course Content

Subjects covered include microbiology, food poisoning, personal hygiene, premises and equipment, cleaning and disinfection, pest management, food safety management, supervisory management, legislation and enforcement.

Course Assessment

It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination of 2 hours maximum to complete, where the candidate must answer at least 40 out of 60 questions correctly. A Merit is awarded to candidates scoring 50 or more.

Course Qualification

You will be awarded a level 3 qualification in Food Safety for Catering. It is recommended you resit a three-day course every 3 years to keep your qualification current.

Level 4 Managing Food Safety in Catering: £350.00 pp + VAT

The Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering is a qualification aimed at managers working in a food or drink catering environment. The qualification is intended for learners already working in catering, or those who are preparing to work in the industry, and whose job requires them to have some responsibility for food safety. Learners are likely to have management responsibilities for an operational team. This qualification covers the subject of food hygiene at a suitable depth to ensure learners have a thorough knowledge of hazards and controls; its focus is on the importance of developing, implementing and monitoring food safety procedures.

The topics covered are regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food.

Course Duration

5-day training course (09:00 to 16:00 hours).

Course Content

Subjects covered include, compliance with food safety legislation, operational requirements, management procedures, controls required for food safety, maintaining food safety management procedures.

Course Assessment

This qualification is assessed through a 2-part examination.

Part one is a 30-question multiple-choice examination.

Part two is a written examination where learners choose 4 from 6 questions, totalling to a possible 70 marks.

Successful learners must achieve a total of at least 60 marks out of 100 across the two parts of the exam. A Merit will be awarded at 70/100 and a Distinction will be awarded at 80/100. The examination will be 2 1⁄2 hours in duration.

Course Qualification

Individuals achieving this qualification will be able to apply for managerial positions in the food and drink catering industry and will also be able to progress to a level 5 qualification, a diploma or a degree in food safety or HACCP (other prerequisite qualification may be required in order to take this route).
